Not so fast...

So, last week when I said Olivia had been sleeping so well, merely putting those words in print must have jinxed the Williams household! Sunday Olivia decided that she was no longer going to play by those rules. She woke up every 2 hours Sunday night and Monday night, then it takes her 45 minutes to an hour to fall back to sleep. So really you are only getting about an hour of sleep each time. Tuesday, while my mom watched the girls, I took a little nap. I felt so much better. Then to top it off Olivia only woke up once on Tuesday night. I felt like a million bucks on Wednesday. This was very short lived because on Wednesday night, I literally got no sleep. Olivia just cried and cried. The next morning...I just cried and cried. We determined that Olivia's belly must be hurting so we scaled back the amount that we are feeding her and just feed her more frequently during the day. Earlier sleep patterns restored...mommy happy :-)

Lillian wakes up every morning and the first words that come out of her mouth are "Go to the beach??" in a whisper. We are going to take a trip to Destin with Michael's family over Labor Day weekend and she is so excited, although I don't really think she knows what the beach is. But it is pretty cute! The next thing she says is "Where is Olivia? She's great!!" She is really interested in her and tries to help us with her by helping burp her and by getting her paci.

Other then the sleepless nights, we are having a lot of fun. Having 2 kids is definitely different but it seems to be getting easier every day.

Two Weeks and Chunky...

Olivia had her two week check up this morning and is already 8 lbs. 2 oz. She eats all the time and sleeps a lot. Michael and I keep asking each other why we thought Lillian was so hard when she was this age. I guess it was just because we were new parents...now it doesn't seem to be such a big deal. Lillian has been being such a great big sister. She just loves Olivia. It is absolutely adorable to see them together and I know that they will be the best of friends...eventually. We had Olivia's newborn pictures on Sunday. There are a couple of sample pictures on our photographer's blog http://bethlessardphotographyblog.com/?p=491 It was tough for Lillian because she didn't get a proper nap, which was her mommy and daddy's fault and we paid for it the rest of the day. A 2 year old without a nap is not a pretty sight. We managed to get a couple cute pictures of the girls together though. We are looking forward to seeing the rest of the photos and to select the ones that will be on the baby announcement that our photographer is making for us.
Michael and I are still trying to adjust to waking up again in the middle of the night. Fortunately Olivia is a very good sleeper. We try to put her in bed between 9:30 and 10:00 and she wakes up every night at 2:00 AM and 5:00 AM and then wakes up between 7:30 and 8:00. Not too shabby and really good in comparison to some of the nights with Lillian when I was waking up every hour to hour and a half...but this could just be the calm before the storm. She is only 2 weeks old.
We have had some beautiful days lately so the girls have been able to enjoy some playtime in the back yard...Lillian playing a little more then Olivia :-). It's crazy because Lillian has really lost the baby in her and now is just such a little girl. It's like she grew up over night. I can't believe it. Her new favorite things to say are "Why not??" and "Mommy/Daddy/insert-name-here...whatcha doin'" She talks in complex sentences which start from the moment she raises her head in the morning until she puts it down at night. We really have enjoyed listening to her and definitely laugh a lot. She is now sleeping in a big girl bed which she can get in and out of by herself. At first she stayed in her bed, just like it was a crib, until I went in her room in the morning. Now she has figured out that once mommy and daddy close her door she can get out of bed if she wants too. This leads to interesting guests in her bed when I wake her up in the morning (i.e. a porcelain piggy bank, books, fruit snacks from her diaper bag, a tennis shoe, etc.)
Next week will be the first week that I have both the girls together at home since Olivia was born. It should be interesting but I am really looking forward to Lillian being here with Olivia and I all day. I guess we'll see how it goes. Until next time...

She's here!!!!

Olivia Lane Williams arrived at 9:10 AM Monday, April 5th, 2010...vocal chords working properly. She was 20.25 inches long and 7 lbs 3.5 oz. She had a head full of dark brown hair, just like her sister and her resemblance to Lillian is pretty remarkable. Lillian is absolutely in love and talks about her from the moment she wakes up until she goes to bed. We are really working on making sure that Lillian knows that, although we have Olivia, we love her just as much as we did before. She has been the best big sister and has really made Michael and I smile as she makes this adjustment from baby to big sister. Its been hard for me since I am still recovering from surgery. I can't play with Lillian like I used to and I'm pretty much useless around the house. Michael has been sooooo incredibly helpful and has really made it a priority that I rest. But he knows that it is killing me that I am so helpless. I have my post-op check up tomorrow afternoon. I am looking forward to this because I have been really sore on my left side and I'm hoping that my doctor will tell me that that is normal. Olivia has been spoiling us because she sleeps so much...I don't remember Lillian sleeping this much! She wakes up every 3 to 4 hours at night to eat...not too shabby if you ask me. I'll write more later...because right now all she does is eat, sleep and poop which is not really that interesting. Hope everyone is doing well!

Well, I went to the doctor Thursday morning. Everything looked great, the doctor is suspecting that Olivia will be about 6.5 lbs. I guess we'll see about that. We are scheduled to have the c-section at 8:30 AM on Monday morning. So, unless there is an emergency and they have to push us back, we will have a baby by 9:30 AM on Monday. We are super excited but nervous at the same time. Now we are just working on trying to get our bags packed and get the house organized. I go to the hospital tomorrow afternoon to have blood work and my anesthesia interview. I will find out more about the surgery at that time. I believe that we will have to be at the hospital at 6:00 AM but I am not certain.
I am definitely nesting...I've oiled door hinges and moved around furniture to accommodate both Lillian's toys and Olivia's but have attempted to not let it look these kids have taken over our house...Even though they have! We are doing the last couple loads of laundry and then we should be good. Right now, Michael and I are enjoying these last two days of afternoon naps, while Lillian is taking hers. We know that these will be a part of the past once Olivia gets here. So I have to go before our Bitty wakes up (unfortunately as I type this I hear her on the monitor saying "mommy...I want a sucker!"...my window of opportunity is over). We're taking the computer to the hospital...and I plan on sending out an update at some point. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers, we appreciate your support.
